Today a very typical routine made me wonder a bit. I tried an app from the appstore on my iphone, a North american product that is sold in Brasil where i live. This app was lousy and i wrote an email to the appstore costumer service  saying i didn’t want it. A guy named Deepak wrote me back in less than forty minutes. I heard that most of the costumer service from apple is located in India and by our friend’s name i guess it was the case. So i was talking to a guy in India about a north american product sold in Brasil. If i told you that the app is japanese you can do the math. In two hours my problem was resolved in a very efficient and gentle way so i have to say i’m very happy with it. Three continents working for a U$ 4,99 sale involving personal assistance. That’s an amazing fact. Companies never before had to be so efficient in order to stay in business. That’s why companies the size of United with a very highly trained staff are exposed to the public’s criticism as hard as the music composed by Dave Carroll “United breaks Guitars” with almost ten million viewers in youtube. That’s also why i’m able to bother you guys anywhere in the world as long as you speak english or use page translators. It’s a magical time for every artist where one is able to cut the middle man and talk straight to the public. To every company that develops products which can be interesting to people all over. Of course there are a lot of down sides for this phenomena. The job that belongs today to Deepak was once done by a person from North America where apple is based. My iphone was build mostly in China again a different country. Less jobs to the country where apple is based. The app was japanese but my friend from india took care of that. So in a way it’s interesting to keep eyes open on the protection policies of our countries to see if our jobs are being sold for cheep to foreign countries. But even so we gotta remember that my iphone would not be possible if there was no China. They would be too expensive to build in the U. S. and less people would buy it so less apps would exist and no guy from India would assist me here in Brasil. Upsides and downsides that’s the reality we live in today and it seams there’s nothing we can do about it. So it’s important to pay close attention to the big companies for they are getting bigger than the countries. Let’s be like Dave Carroll and work as good inspectors for this new “governs”.
