So it’s the time for the bunny to bring us the catholic event of Jesus resurrection. I’m not sure what’s the relation of this and chocolate eggs as i’m not sure of the relation between Santa and Jesus birth on christmas. The fact is that people gather and try to have joy in these holidays. Great time to visit the old folks like daddies and granddaddies and remember how much we miss them. It’s also time to spend time together and usually after the holiday we remember why we don’t gather more often. As a great guy i know uses to say ” Guests are like fish. After the third day they start to smell really bad”. It would be so much better in Jesus had resurrected in the same day he died. No giant traffic lines leaving the city on thursday night and arriving on sunday afternoon. No sleeping over on parents houses. No having kids sleeping over. I love the one day celebrations. It starts at morning and at night you are in your house enjoying your TV. Maybe because i’m not from a big family i really don’t dig the idea of traveling to have easter lunch with all the relatives. There was a time i did and that was when my grandparents were alive. When my grandma which was the best cook in the universe was alive. Even so after lunch i would really prefer to go home.
I really enjoy Easter. I just watched my 5 year old’s joy of going through his Easter basket and he has been clutching his blue bunny all night and said that “stuffies help him to sleep better”. Atleast twice he said that. He told me that I am the best mom. I think that if you enjoy spoiling children than you enjoy the Easter holiday. Also, I am a LDS and we acknowledge the Easter holiday I believe, atleast most families seem to do the Easter basket and and getting dressed up. I am having lunch and an Easter egg hunt with my child tomorrow at my cousin’s house.
Thanks for the comment!!! Enjoy the holidays with the kids!!!
My first LDS Easter was 12 years ago. My fiance took me to his uncle’s so that we could watch General conference on tv and my fiance was wearing a plaid suit jacket and it had little foil wrapped Easter chocolates in the pocket and I was leaning against him on the couch and eating the chocolate out of his pocket. I had also seen him eat ham once on Easter morning. He was raised LDS. So I would not say that Easter is just a Catholic holiday.
Sure…it’s actually a christian holiday…
Oh, wow. Also, if you read the LDS scriptures Jesus’ resurrection is very important. He said to Mary Magdeline to not touch me for I have to yet…um, risen to see my father who something like that, but the disciples went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved and that he was gone and they wanted to know where he went… It is a very romantic and true event that took place in history.
True…Not just romantic but also symbolic…
Most people can go home after they go to visit their relatives.
I hope that you are right about that last part.
About granny?? I’m right…she was the best… Thanks!
If you think the Easter Bunny doesn’t have anything to do with Jesus… you may be right.
Did you hear about the school that decided that they could only have Easter Eggs if they were referred to as “Spring Spheres”? It’s true.
Eggs aren’t even spherical!
Have a good spring sphere day!
Wow… spring spheres… How new age!!!Great spirng sphere day to you too!!! awesome!!! lol
My children who are catholic always have lots of questions about Easter. This year it is why we dye the eggs. Um, I dunno. I tried to look it up but most of it looks like theories to me.
I’ll have a meal, but the best part is when the little kids find an Easter egg. They always get so excited as if they’ve never done it before.
Happy Easter!
To you too Simone!!! Great easter with your kids!!!
Oh yes that is what we did today. I really don’t like riding in the car and it takes two hours to get to my parents house! I shouldn’t complain I know. My neighbor let mine and my daughters dogs outside while we were gone. My daughter in law’s father let hers out. Thats always a big issue for us. We had a nice dinner and visit though. It is hard to see my parents getting so old.
Well… That’s the deal…it’s annoying in a way but in other hand is a possibility to see our forks…
We used to get such great wonderful baskets of candy on Easter when I was a child. My mom would sneak into my room and put it on top of my bed. It was a bookcase bed. It really has nothing too do with Easter but it was so much fun. Now as an adult and a Christian I so appreciate that Christ died for me and rose again to defeat death and evil. Because of that I have full confidence that one day we will rise to a new heaven and a new earth also where there will be no pain or sorrow.
I hope you are right… I believe in the same…
Ok.
Happy Easter! đŸ™‚

Thanks!!! To you too!!!

I heard at one point that people who don’t want us to really see Jesus come up with distraction like what you’ve mentioned, Easter bunny on Easter instead of God’s passion, resurrection, and man’s salvation out of it; Santa Claus instead of the birth of Jesus the savior – I guess it would be great if people don’t go wary of the truth, which our whole being needed.
Great post đŸ™‚ I could totally relate about the after parties, the luxury to go home to your own house, own bed, own bathroom, and watch t.v. đŸ˜€
Thanks!!! I’m really not against parties or santa or the bunny… lol… but people should remember the truth reason for these dates. I believe christmas is in better shape but easter…the last thing people talk about is Jesus…
I went to Catholic school, so somewhere in my brain they’ve planted a connection between the rabbit and the resurrection. I think it’s because you typically first see bunnies in the springtime, a very renewal-y time of year, and eggs are all about rebirth or anticipation or something, and chocolate is just delicious.
You are right…chocolate is delicious!!!
I can agree with the sentiment of a one day celebration. Living here in South Carolina, with most of my family in Philadelphia is both a good and negative thing.
I don’t really do much formal celebrating of holidays anymore.
Happy Easter
W.
Happy easter!!!
I think I would enjoy Easter more if I could spend it with my granddaughters. Otherwise, I really don’t celebrate it other than to indulge in some jelly beans and a chocolate bunny. đŸ™‚
Happy Easter!
My mother had the same fish saying. đŸ™‚ Lots of things are common wordlwide. So how come we can’t just all get along?
We do!!! lol
Eggs have nothing to do with jaysus, it’s an original pagan thing that christiantiy hi-jacked to make it more acceptable to godless people.
Easter is derived from Ostara, a Norse god of fertility, and the prupose of Easter was to celebrate Spring, hence all the eggs, symbolising new beginnings.
The real question is, why CHOCOLATE eggs?
My daughter would know that, I am sure, being a Pagan. I think I did know, I’d just forgotten.
Why chocolate? No idea, but try finding dark chocolate easter egs – that IS a battle!
I don’t know any chocolate god…well..maybe the god of industry and marketing?
Hershey
By the way You should be on Twitter. Hershey is on there and Breyers Ice-Cream though I do not know why I just told you that.
I dont either…
That is what happens when an insomniac gets on the computer. Yikes. That kind of freaks me out, but I excuse myself, because I know that I am tired.
